Philip Wakeman
Mandolin & Vocals
Philip started playing mandolin at the age of seven with the encouragement and guidance of his father. His first concert was seeing Newgrass Revival, and from that moment he was sold! In high school, he continued to play music with his parents at local jams and festivals and went on to study guitar in college. Philip began playing rock and folk rock music while touring with local bands throughout college and into adulthood. Philip has opened for national acts such as Son Volt, Todd Snider, and Natalie Merchant to name a few. Along with Dozens of Dollars, Philip continues to play with bands/songwriters like Danny Flanigan and the Rain Chorus, Dave Ernst and the Early Favorites, and Nashville singer/songwriter John Mann. And…he really does owe it all to his dad! Thanks Pops!
Jeff Faith
Bass & Vocals
Jeff started playing old country and bluegrass guitar as a teenager around the fire with friends. He advanced to solo acoustic music in local bars and then started playing bass in the early 90’s with Louisville rock bands like Mary Mary and One-900. After that, he started an acoustic duo with wife, Christine. A local singer needing a bass player revived his interest back to the bass. He picked up the upright bass in 2010 and never looked back. Jeff started playing bluegrass with friends in New Albany, with Hickory Vaught and sat in regularly with Littleband, Bridge 19, Relic, Bernie Lubbers, and Mary’s Dads Band. Jeff’s been holding down the beat for DOD since 2019.
Steve Cooley
Banjo & Vocals
Steve is a three-time Grammy nominated recording artist and producer/engineer. He has performed with artists as diverse as Bill Monroe (the Father of Bluegrass), Doc Watson, David Grisman, folk legends Jean Ritchie and Hazel Dickens as well as sitting in with Phish. He’s been a long-time performer with the Dillard’s as well. Steve’s been picking with DOD since 2022.
